There was a time when traditional braces and wires were the only orthodontic treatment option available with adjustments and observation necessary every four to six weeks. For those who live in rural North Dakota and Montana, getting braces literally translates into having to take 12 to 15 days off to make long drives through the duration of orthodontic treatment. We know this scenario well, because over half of our patients are not local.

Add a trip or two if emergency orthodontic care is required. With braces emergency orthodontic care sometimes happens. If and when the braces break or a wire starts poking, it can be very uncomfortable.

For my practice, those are the “good old days.” Today, our new reality is that these are the “great days.”

Thanks to significant advances in both orthodontic care and telemedicine, if you have a smartphone and are eligible for Invisalign® treatment (most people are), your long road trips could actually be fewer than five total.

This is made possible due to two powerful advances in orthodontic technology:

  • Invisalign®
  • Warford Foresight Monitoring

A smile you can be proud of, that can potentially change the direction you take in life is well worth it... but what if there was a way to get around all the visits?

Invisalign® takes orthodontic care to a completely different level.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a custom-made aligner, similar to a retainer, that is interchanged approximately every week for a period of six to eighteen months or even longer depending on the severity of misalignment.

Invisalign® aligners are used for orthodontic treatment to deliver forces that gently move and properly align teeth for a beautiful smile. Each clear aligner is customized through my personal prescription and then computer-generated. A big misconception is that a computer, not a doctor, decides how the teeth will move. Although some orthodontists may do this, on more challenging cases, it simply will not work. I personally customize ever patient’s tooth movement.

With Invisalign®, I am able to use my orthodontic training, expertise and computer to individually build a customized treatment plan for each patient. I have done this literally thousands of times.

Top 1% Worldwide

My practice is the Dakota’s and Montana’s only Diamond Plus Invisalign® provider, the top experienced ranking Invisalign provides and is approximately the top 1% of providers worldwide. We are also a certified Invisalign® Research Site, helping to further advance orthodontic care and research.

To be treated by an orthodontist with similar experience to ours, you would need to travel to Seattle, Denver or Minneapolis. The good news is you do not have to drive that far, instead, you can come to Bismarck a handful or fewer times.

Through our experience, my team and I have learned how to achieve previously-unachievable orthodontic results with Invisalign®. In nearly every case, braces are no longer the only option.

Much like an artist, I visualize the final orthodontic result I expect to arrive at with each patient. I then custom-program Invisalign® to move each tooth in precisely the right combination to achieve this. Move this tooth, then that tooth, hold here, move there…

I customize tooth movements exactly as I want, and I customize the position, size and shape of the “attachments” which are the composite “bumps” placed on certain teeth to make certain movements a reality.

This image is an example demonstrating tooth movements available for me to customize a Patient’s result.

I am essentially predicting the entire Invisalign® treatment prescription from start to finish. In very complex cases, the goal is to predict 3-6 months’ of treatment at a time.

I recently spoke at a summit on “disruptive technology,” and one of my fellow speakers was a physician and president of a local hospital. He spoke about how virtual consultations are becoming the norm in medicine, and they will be even more advanced in the future.

This same trend is happening in my practice. The second powerful technology mentioned previously is remote monitoring / virtual appointments.

Introducing…

Warford Foresight™ Monitoring

Warford Foresight™ Monitoring is an orthodontic game changer. This powerful technology helps my team and I remotely monitor the progress of your orthodontic care, more closely than we ever have been able to. Just like our digital scanning technology is more accurate than impressions were in the past, monitoring your progress with Warford Foresight™ Monitoring is more accurate than simply looking at the aligner fit in person.

The result for you is fewer visits and road trips.

While my team and I enjoy getting to know each of our Patients and their families, we realize there are many things our Patients would rather be doing, especially if you’re one of our many Patients with a 3-4 hour one way trip to an appointment.

Soon, we envision the ability to not only remotely monitor your Invisalign® treatment but also actively modify your prescription all from the comfort of your home.

Imagine orthodontic care in as little as two or three visits!

This reality is coming very soon….

Sound complicated? For our Patients, it really is as simple as:

1. Download our dental monitoring app.
2. Before each aligner change, take a couple of easy photos and submit them via the app.
3. My Team will monitor your progress from our office in Bismarck and with internet access, I can monitor anything that needs my attention from anywhere in the world. This ability means we can make sure all is proceeding as prescribed and take necessary action (if required) remotely, saving visits and delivering better Patient care at the same time.

Benefits of Invisalign® and Warford Foresight™ Monitoring:

  • FAR FEWER road trips. Your customized Invisalign® treatment plan is customized just for you. Each aligner shapes your smile and our remote monitoring tracks your progress. Of course, if you are in the neighborhood, you are always welcome to stop in and say, “Hi!”
  • Comfort. No braces nor intrusive wires to make lips and cheeks sore.
  • No emergency visits. Braces sometimes break and cause discomfort. This doesn’t happen with Invisalign® aligners.
  • Eat what you want. Nearly no restrictions on foods to eat. Of course, you would be right to guess I will still suggest making healthy choices.
  • Photos without the brackets and wires. Taking a personal or family photo? Simply remove your Invisalign® aligner and take your photos, although most people think their teeth look even better with the aligners in.
